Topic Outline
Synopsis: This presentation will-introduce you to some main components and methods of
supervision-so you will be well-equipped to gain the most out of professional supervision.
For-supervisors, there are some extra tips for your delivery of professional-supervision to
supply value-for-money approach.
The most held belief is that-counselling supervision is provided by a trained and
qualified-supervisor offering counsellors, care workers, and mental health practitioners-a
safespace to reflect on their practice. This is in terms of personal impact, professional
caseload, ethical and legal dilemmas, professional development, administration, and other
businessor work-related issues as a preventative or remedial measure. A trend in
developmentappears to emerge away from managerial correction toward reflective
practiceand favouring facilitation rather than oversight.
Prior to offering to supervise acounsellor’s practical work, role, or studies, for best
practiceand ethical conduct, it would be advisable for supervisors to register as asupervisor
andabide by their association’s guidelines. It would then be deemed responsiblepractice to
haveexperience, for this advisory role, that would fit their supervisee’s practiceneeds and
assistwith difficult cases, ethical dilemmas, and any other component of practice. This
workshopaims to equip you further in the essentials of professional supervision to be
helpfulas a supervisee or a supervisor.
