Call for Papers

The Indian Association of Professional Supervisors (IAPS) invites abstracts for the 2022 Asian Mental Health Symposium. Abstracts are invited for oral presentations, symposia and workshops. Abstracts can be sent under the following thematic areas:

  •         Psychology
  •         Counselling
  •         Social Work
  •         Private Practice and Business Challenges
  •         Research
  •         Education
  •         Addictions
  •         Mental Health and wellbeing

Abstracts submitted to the Asian Mental Health symposium will be grouped together by the thematic area  

Details of abstract structure

The abstract should be of maximum 300 words, and contain a brief title of presentation, background and rationale, aim and objectives, methodology, results, and conclusion and implications of the study, along with the thematic area it belongs to.

Criteria for abstract selection

Abstract selection for oral presentations and symposium will be based on criteria such as the contemporary relevance of the study/paper, its contribution to knowledge, clarity in methodology and analysis, implications and originality. Maximum two abstracts can be submitted by each attendee. Workshops that are of contemporary relevance, and inclusive of experiential learning and skill building will be given preference.

Important Dates

  • Deadline for abstract submission: January 15, 2022 (Extended to 11th Feb)
  • Intimation of abstract selection: January 29, 2022 (ongoing)
  • Full paper submission: The organisers will invite select few attendees to submit full paper with the possibility of further publication: February 28th, 2022

Abstracts for oral presentations, symposia and workshops may be submitted only electronically using the online form on the Asian Mental Health Symposium website and Symposium Flyer.

Guidelines for oral paper presentation

  • All presenters will be required to have their final presentations ready for upload by the CrowdComms team no later than March 10th, 2022. Instructions for uploading of the paper presentation will be provided soon by the organisers.
  • Each presentation will be of 30 minutes duration.
  • The presentation will largely follow the structure similar to that of the abstract

Guidelines for symposia

  • A symposium is a focused session in which multiple (3-5) participants present their contributions related to a shared theme.
  • The format of a symposium usually consists of an introduction to the theme by the Chairperson providing a background for the ensuing discussion. This is followed by individual presentations and by interchange among participants and between the audience and participants. Often the symposium will end with an overview of the proceedings by the chairperson or a discussant.
  • The abstract for the symposium will comprise title of the symposium, a common abstract for the symposium and separate abstracts for each presentation, names of the participants and the discussant.
  • Overall duration of the symposium will be 60-90 minutes with each presenter presenting for 15 minutes.
  • All presenters will be required to upload their final presentations by March 10th, 2022. Instructions for uploading of the paper presentation will be provided soon by the organisers
  • The presentation will largely follow the structure similar to that of the abstract

Guidelines for workshop

Duration of the workshop would be maximum of 90 min

1.     The abstract for the workshopwill comprise title, objectives and learning outcomes of the workshop.

2.     Preferences will be given toworkshops on contemporary approaches/ models, give more of experientiallearning thru activities and caselets, leads to skill enhancement andbeneficial to targeting audience.

3.     All presenters will be requiredto upload their presentations by March 10th, 2022. Instructions for uploadingof the final presentation will be provided soon by the organisers
